Most people don't realize that the soft floating rubber duckie was invented in America.  Like Jazz, it is an American art form that has its roots in Ohio and the Seiberling Latex Company.  This company started the Goodyear Tire & Rubber company named in honor of Charles Goodyear, the man who invented vulcanized rubber in 1839.

In 1933, Tom Casey, the company's Vice-President happened to watch Walt Disney's Three Little Pigs in a local theater and the rest, as they say, is history.  He immediately went to California to acquire the rights to produce rubber figurines of the Disney characters which eventually included the first rubber Donald Duck.

Today the industry has all but vanished from the United States with all ducks being made in other countries.  So let's welcome Sam, the first rubber duck to be produced in teh US in a very, very long time and back in Ohio where it all began!  CelebriDucks hopes you enjoy their "Hatched in the USA" ducks with Sam being the first of many to be made in the USA as they bring this art form (and the artisans who produce them) back home.
